An apartment building has collapsed in an apparent explosion in Marseille, injuring five people, with authorities in the French city saying there are likely to be deaths as firefighters battled a blaze.
At the moment of the blast at about 12.40am, “everything shook, you could see people running and there was smoke everywhere, the building fell on to the street”, a local grocer, Aziz, told AFP, asking that his family name not be used.
